School of Business student first 'National Society for Hispanic MBAs' scholar

Kirstie Fernandez, a first-year Master of Business Administration (MBA) student, is the first Barry University scholar for the National Society for Hispanic MBAs. Barry’s Andreas School of Business and NSHMBA came together last year through the University Partnership Program to provide qualified students with scholarships.

Each academic year, NSHMBA and Barry’s School of Business will give eligible new or enrolled students pursuing an MBA an award covering partial to full tuition and a chance to attend the NHSMBA’s annual conference and career expo.

Fernandez attended this year’s conference on Oct. 4-6 and explained how it was a powerful networking opportunity where she met many business leaders from around the country who shared tips on how to build a strong internet presence.

“I was able to attend the luncheons and hear top executives from Dell and Target speak about various subjects like managing a family and work in addition to finding what your calling is,” said Fernandez. “I am very grateful for having been selected for this honor and I look forward to playing a part in the NSHMBA South Florida Chapter.”

The National Society of Hispanic MBAs partners with more than 65 colleges and universities across the United States to increase the number of Hispanic students completing master’s degrees in business. Financial assistance is made possible by the participating universities for outstanding Hispanics. The University Partner Scholarship program application process varies by MBA program. Preference may be given, but is not limited to, students of Hispanic heritage or students with a demonstrated commitment to the Hispanic community.
