Dean's Message
Barry
is a terrific place to study business because we offer outstanding
academic quality, with the best features of both large universities
and small colleges.
We are accredited by AACSB International, the gold standard for
quality among business schools, attained by only one in three business
schools. Others may offer explanations why they aren’t accredited,
but as the folks at Porsche say, “There is no substitute.”
We combine that recognized quality with all the advantages of a
small, private, Catholic campus. This is a unique combination in
South Florida and throughout the Southeast.
We care about more than just your SAT or GMAT score. We provide
personalized attention by faculty and staff beginning with your
initial contact through graduation and beyond. Our biggest classroom
holds only 35 seats, and average class sizes are generally less
than 20.
Despite our student-friendly size, we offer a wide selection of
undergraduate majors and MBA specializations. You can complete our MBA program with as few as 36 graduate semester hours, or choose among six specializations with no more than 39 hours. Our Master
of Science in Accounting prepares you for much-in-demand professional
certifications and the MS in Management provides you with the leadership
skills most valued by businesses.
Our professors offer substantial practical experience, along with
Ph.D.s from schools like Harvard, Stanford and Wharton. All are
evaluated primarily on their teaching performance. You might ask,
what’s so unique about that? It may seem odd to you, but this
is not the case at many schools, particularly larger ones that describe
themselves as research universities. Barry is the only AACSB-accredited
school in this area with a mission to teach. This means that our
professors are easily accessible and will learn your name and who
you are, that there are no teaching assistants, and no classes held
in auditoriums.
In addition to our strong curriculum and faculty, we offers services
typically found only at much larger universities, such as a full-time
placement center within the School of Business, which will still
be available to you after you graduate.
You will not only study the global business environment, but also
experience it in every class. Many students come from abroad, from
China, Russia, Turkey, and Thailand and many points in between,
including all of Latin America and the Caribbean. We are particularly
proud of our international business program that features foreign
and domestic internships and foreign language skills as well as
study abroad. We offer a wide choice of internships to all majors.
This is why I say business at Barry is truly special. If you want
a business education of externally validated high quality that emphasizes
entrepreneurship, a truly international flavor, and a strong ethical
foundation … If you want to study on a student-friendly campus
with a faculty dedicated to your success and caring concern from
administrative staff ... If you want to go to school in a vibrant,
tropical city, a center of global trade and finance ... Barry is
where you belong.
