Study Abroad and International Internships

What Types of Study Abroad Programs Exist?

Barry University has several study abroad programs embedded in different majors. So, it is important to think about what kind of academic experience you expect to get out of your study. The material on this page is specifically for business students. Non-business-school students should speak with their advisors to get accurate up-to-date information.

ASB students need to think about whether the classes they will take abroad will meet distribution requirements or whether they want any study abroad classes to meet Business Core Curriculum requirements. In other words, do you want to take business classes abroad? It is critical that you set a meeting with your advisor and Dr. Tejeda when thinking about this issue. In general, if you take pre-approved distribution requirements abroad, you should not have any trouble transferring credits into Barry. Business courses are trickier. Our business school is accredited by the prestigious AACSB International and that means that classes taken away from ASB have to meet specific and very high standards. So, we need to make sure that classes that you take abroad can transfer to ASB before you begin your study abroad experience. This is something to take care of beforehand.

As for locations, you have a few choices as well. First, through our membership in the College Consortium for International Study (CCIS) you can choose some 80 programs in over 30 countries. Because of the diversity of programs and offerings, this option is ideal for meeting distribution requirements. Second, ASB has developed special relationships with a number of universities around the world. Again, it is important to discuss the courses and offering you are considering with Dr. Tejeda and your advisor beforehand to make sure nothing has changed and that the courses will apply toward your graduation. The programs are are below.
