Event -Zoo Miami Clean Up
What - Come out this fall break, for a day of fun and service. On Friday October 12th, we will be traveling down south to spruce up the Miami Metro Zoo (note we will not be permitted to enter the animal cages). After 12pm, we will have free full access to the zoo, monorail tour, and a discount on food. We will be meeting at the De Porres center at 7:30 AM and travel to the Zoo together. Event - Zumba for a Cause
What - FAU Davie and Broward College Central Campus are proud to sponsor an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for largest Zumba class on a college campus. 

This event is being held to raise awareness and funds for domestic violence and will support the College Brides Walk (www.collegebrideswalk.com) and No More Tears (www.nmtproject.org).  Join other students and community members to raise awareness and fundraise for Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Help will be needed to set up, hand out refreshments and clean up.

Event - Feed the Homeless: Missions of Charity
What – Give back to your community by helping to serve at a local soup kitchen.

Event - Miami Street Fair
What – Come support your local community at the Miami Street Fair. We will assist in set-up of tables for the fair, assisting during the fair, and help break down the tables at the end of the night. For more information, check the Facebook Event Page.

Event - Move for Disability
What - We plan to have a speaker to open up the event. Students who sign up will have the opportunity to walk, run, and chant around the perimeter of the university to further spread disability awareness around campus and the neighboring community.

Event - 5K Walk/Run for Haiti
What - Register as a team or an individual and collect donation pledges to continue funding education for the students at the school in Saint-Marc. Each entry donation received before 8:00 a.m. on the day of the event includes admission to Zoo Miami following the Walk/Run.

Event – Movie Night: Soul Surfer
What – The movie choice, Soul Surfer, is about a young swimmer who becomes physically disabled after a shark bites off one of her arms. She perseveres and decides to continue competing in competitions despite her unfortunate incident. Refreshments will be served.

Event – Enchanted Forest Halloween Event
What – The City of North Miami is having their Halloween event again this year on Friday, October 26th. There are many activities at the event that volunteers can help with.

Event – Make a Difference Day
What – The nation’s largest day of volunteering, where millions of people across the country rally together to help change the world. We will be serving in various sites across Miami.

Event - Community Connections
What - Participants will be greeted by Susan Willenborg, director of volunteers, in the may center before being escorted to various areas throughout the home for intergenerational visits with residents. This event is an opportunity for individuals, families and Clubs to volunteer in the evening! Register with Susan Willenborg (swillenborg@mjhha.org).

Event - Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Program

What - When South Florida Urban Ministries began its Thanksgiving Meal Delivery Program in 2001, we delivered over 600 meals.  In 2011, with the help of over a thousand volunteers, we delivered over 6,800 meals! Please help us meet the growing needs in our community and join us in making this year a very Happy Thanksgiving for families in need. If you would like to volunteer on Thanksgiving Day, please register by November 16th!
