The Center for Earth Jurisprudence at www.earthjuris.org . The Center is directed by Sr. Pat Siemen, OP, JD, and is sponsored by St. Thomas and Barry University. There are also a number of recommended articles, journals, and books, as well as films, videos and audio files.
The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Environmental Justice Program: Caring for God’s Creation can be found at http://www.usccb.org/sdwp/ejp/. The Climate Change and Health Initiative section of the USCCB site includes models for change, suggested action steps, action alerts, and Church statements from the U.S. Bishops, Regional Bishops, and the Vatican. The Episcopal Church, U.S.A., lists several linked Episcopal and ecumenical organizations for environmental stewardship at http://ecusa.anglican.org/8020_59893_ENG_HTM.htm . The Episcopal Ecological Network (EEN) offer information, Episcopal resolutions, events, and action steps for greening.
The Forum on Religion and Ecology explores the views of major world religions regarding environmental concerns, seeks to establish a dialogue with “intersecting disciplines,” provides educational resources, and sponsors a number of conferences and events. The Islamic Foundation for Ecology & Environmental Sciences (IFEES) is an internationally recognized body that disseminates information on the Islamic position on ecology, conducts research, and seeks to provide practical solutions to the ecological crisis. Their website can be accessed at http://www.ifees.org.uk/ .
The National Religious Partnership for the Environment at www.nrpe.org contains information regarding perspectives, activities, worship, and key statements for Jewish, Catholic, mainline Protestant, Evangelical and interfaith religious communities. It also networks with the four sites lists below:
The Orthodox Church’s Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew’s annual messages (1989-2006) for September 1st, the Day of the Protection of the Environment, can be found at http://www.ec-patr.org/docdisplay.php?lang=en&cat=11 . Symposia and other ecological activities and messages of Orthodox Christian Church are also listed the website of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople.
