Pax Christi
Joining the Barry Pax Christi Chapter is a great way to start working toward the creation of just, peaceful global communities!
Peace and Justice. Pax Christi strives to create a world that reflects the Peace of Christ by exploring, articulating, and witnessing to the call of Christian nonviolence. The group recognizes that this change begins on a personal level and then extends to communities of reflection and action to transform structures of society.
Barry's Chapter Activities. Barry's Chapter has been exploring the issues surrounding consumerism, materialism, and Christian Spirituality. Through presentations, discussions, and prayer, the Chapter has explored the relationships between economic perspectives and social justice. By raising awareness of these issues on campus, the Chapter has embraced Pax Christi USA's efforts to work toward a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world.
Barry's Vision and Pax Christi. In choosing Barry, you have chosen a University grounded in the fight for peace and social justice. St. Dominic's vision was of a world that celebrates God's dwelling within us and among us, where life is reverenced and nurtured, where
hatred and injustice are eradicated, and where the intellectual life is promoted and supported.
You have chosen a University that will encourage you to assume
responsibility in religious, social, economic, environmental, and
political affairs as means to create needed change. The Dominican
tradition of activist justice can be, in part, actualized with your
work with Pax Christi.
If you would like to join the Pax Christi Chapter, please call Kevin Leak at LeakK@bucmail.barry.edu or Morgan Abaravich at AbaravichM@bucmail.barry.edu, co-presidents of the chapter."
