Seder Meal
For 25 years, Barry University has hosted a Seder Meal on campus. The event is open to all individuals who are interested in celebrating a shared, historical religious event. Members of the Barry community join together each year to learn, to eat, to celebrate and recollect God's deliverance of
God's people out of slavery.
For years, Barry's Seder has been presided over by Dr. Abraham Gittelson, a well-known Jewish educator in South Florida. The Seder is a ritualized meal that recounts the story of how the ancient Hebrews, lead by Moses, escaped from slavery in Egypt. Using a simplified form of the Haggadah, the Seder Prayers, and sharing ritual foods, Dr. Gittelson leads those gathered through a recitation of the ancient story of Israel's redemption from the bondage of Egypt.
