ConfirmationConfirmation

"[Followers] are more perfectly bound to the Church by the sacrament of Confirmation, and the Holy Spirit endows them with special strength.."
--Lumen gentium, no. 11

Confirmation, the second of the three sacraments of initiation, celebrates and acknowledges that the Spirit of Jesus given in baptism is truly alive and at work in the Christian. In Roman Catholicism, Confirmation is celebrated at the time when a Christian is able to be conscious of the Spirit's life in him or her. Like all the Sacraments, confirmation celebrates a transformation so profound that its meaning can never be captured in any simple description. In Confirmation, Christians acknowledge all the wonderful, usually subtle ways that Christ's spirit is with them- affirming, strengthening, and challenging them.

If you have been baptized a Catholic, but have yet to be Confirmed, and would like to inquire about the process, please email campusMinistry@mail.barry.edu or call 305-899-3650 for more information.
