Job shadowing allows students to observe professionals in the workplace in order to get a realistic view of what the job entails. Students typically shadow a professional for a few hours or up to an entire day to observe the profession and the work environment. This experience allows the student to reflect on whether or not their interests, skills, values and personality are a good fit for the profession. Job shadowing can help students expand their professional network and may lead to internships or job opportunities.
