Letter from Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, PHD
November 1, 2011
My Dear Friends,
I am so pleased that members of the South Florida are joining us in our Celebration of the Human Spirit at the Fine Arts Quadrangle at Barry University as we recognize the dedication of outstanding leaders in the local and international community.
Against the tapestry of our students' creative works that reflect the divine spark in each of us, we hold up some of the most exceptional members of our community whose compassion, dedication and loving service inspires many and reinforces the imago dei – the likeness to God in all of us.
We are very pleased to present Barry's prestigious Faith and Freedom Award to an outstanding leader and advocate for those less fortunate, Dr. Paul Ahr ─ whose encouragement and leadership role at Camillus House is providing necessary programs and services for our homeless sisters and brothers in South Florida.
We also are pleased to bestow the University's Laudare Medal on five outstanding members of our global community – Penelope and E. Roe Stamps, Joan Stout, and Linda and Edward Villella. We praise Penny, Roe, Joan, Linda and Edward for their lives of generous, caring and dedicated service to education, service and the arts. They have educated us to aspire to the highest ideals of our potential, encouraging each of us to use our abilities, time and resources.
Thank you for sharing this memorable evening with us. Your support of our events enables us to offer a Barry education to qualified, deserving students, many of whom could not attend Barry without your interest and support. For your affirmation of our mission and support of our wonderful students, I am profoundly grateful.
In closing, I want to express the sincere thanks of the entire Barry community - and our honored guests. May your great generosity return to you one hundred fold.
To all of you, please be assured of my daily prayers for you and your loved ones, and accept my warmest wishes for a peaceful and healthy 2012.
Blessings in abundance,
Sister Linda Bevilacqua, OP, PhD
