Welcome to Our Center
The Center for Human Rights and Social Justice like all other institutions across the globe is faced with the unprecedented challenge of determining how to persist in the face of COVID-19. We are focused on re-imagining and re-configuring our efforts to ensure our work will continue in the face of COVID-19 and social distancing. While we will continue the valuable work associated with our existing community engaged advocacy and research projects including 1HTC, Trans Perspectives Project, and TRACKS, we recognize the vital importance of being responsive to the needs of our most marginalized populations as a result of the devastating consequences of COVID-19. As the road ahead is fraught with great need, but also many unknowns and uncertainties, we aim to be flexible, intentional, and responsive in the face of these these evolving changes. We know that many of the CHRSJ’s target populations-survivors of violence and trafficking, LGBTQ+ communities, and communities experiencing multiple marginalization and oppression- are among those hardest hit by the effects of COVID-19, often resulting in immediate threats to survival. We are committed to doing our part to address the most pressing educational, training, research, and advocacy needs associated with these communities. We commit to collaborate closely with our trusted community partners and those on the front lines of this pandemic to help mitigate the threats to social justice and human rights exacerbated by COVID-19.
