Belkis Landa-Gonzalez, Ed.D., OTR/L
Program Director and Assistant Professor

Belkis Landa-Gonzalez earned her B.S. degree in microbiology and immunology from the University of Miami in 1986. While working as a research specialist, she completed a M.S. degree in occupational therapy at Florida International University. She returned to Florida International University to complete her doctorate in Higher Education Instruction and Leadership. Dr. Landa-Gonzalez has extensive clinical and consultative experience with a variety of populations from children to older adults in acute and rehabilitation hospitals, home-health and private settings. She managed the occupational therapy departments for several local rehabilitation facilities, as has served as the President of the South Florida Leadership Forum before joining the faculty at Barry in 1996. Her clinical and research specialty areas are adult orthopedics, neurological and cognitive rehabilitation. Dr. Landa-Gonzalez has been recognized for her leadership by the Florida Occupational Therapy Association, with the 2008 Louise Samson Leadership Award and with the American Occupational Therapy & Occupational Therapy Foundation Director’s Leadership Award in 2009. She has also been the recipient of the Gail A. Hills Alumni Award of Excellence in recognition of her scholarship in occupational therapy. In her leisure time, Dr. Landa-Gonzalez enjoys gardening, arts and crafts, target shooting and sharing time with family.
