Mindfulness and Wisdom in our Daily lives

This presentation will be similar to Gordhamer’s Google Talk which focuses on mindfulness and wisdom in daily life.  Zen and other teaching stories will be shared about balance and touch on why attention matters more than ever, both in how we relate to technology and how we relate to young people.  The question is not “Is Technology Good or Bad?”, but rather what does it mean to fully show up for our lives, no matter what we are doing. The real challenge is how we can engage wisely, and make sure we are showing up for ourselves and loved ones in meaningful ways.

The Power of Attention: Technology, Focus and Balance

This presentation will be geared for middle, high school and college age students and will explore how we find balance, and harness the positive aspects of technology without losing mindfulness, wellness, connection to nature, and connection to one another. For young people today, Mr. Gordhamer feels it is important to address the initial question of “What is mindfulness and why does it matter at all?” He will use examples from athletes, musicians, and research studies to address its relevance in their lives and how it is related to creativity and innovation.
