Pre-Commencement Activities

All graduates are invited and encouraged to attend the Baccalaureate Liturgy. The Baccalaureate liturgy is a celebration of graduation. Graduates should wear academic robes (no hoods or caps). Guests of the graduates are welcome.
Rose and Candle Ceremony
Broad Center, Barry University Main Campus

All graduates are invited and encouraged to attend the Rose and Candle Ceremony. The Rose and Candle Ceremony is a traditional ceremony at Barry which attempts to symbolize the bonds of friendship and sending forth of graduates. Graduates exchange a candle, the symbol of wisdom and knowledge, with a Barry underclassman of their choice. In return, graduates receive a rose as a symbol of love and friendship. Graduates should wear academic robes (no hoods or caps). Those serving as roses should wear business dress attire. Guests of the graduates are welcome.
All participants should meet in Thompson Hall Lobby at 6:00 p.m.
Commencement (December 19, 2009)
Over 1,000 students will receive diplomas during graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremonies on Saturday December 19, 2009. Two ceremonies will be held at the James L. Knight Convention Center (400 S.E. Second Avenue, Miami, Florida). All graduating students from all of the Barry University campuses are invited to participate.
There will be two ceremonies, one at 10:00 AM and one at 2:00 PM.
