The Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations is designed to provide you with the knowledge essential for entry in the public relations profession. Emphasis is placed on communication studies, public relations principles, professional writing skills, and marketing. In addition, you will be directed towards broad exploration of the liberal arts to enhance knowledge in a wide variety of professional contexts.

The Public Relations curriculum is designed so that you will be able to:

  1. Understand and apply the ROPE method (Research, Action Plan, Communication, and Evaluation) to public relations case studies.

  2. Develop and utilize a database of landmark case studies in public relations campaign planning.

  3. Identify ways to analyze the beliefs, attitudes, and behaviors of target audiences.

  4. Understand appropriate message composition strategies, their characteristics and effects, and the impact on channel selection.
  Degree Requirements  
  Distribution 54 credits
  Students in the Public Relations program are required to take PHO 203 or 403 and MAT 152 as part of the distribution.
