About the Program

Thank you for your interest in the Advertising program at Barry University.  We offer a comprehensive curriculum designed to produce outstanding advertising graduates who are not only equipped with the tools to enter the profession but who are also endowed with the critical knowledge based skills vital for success in the advertising world.

Students in the advertising program are exposed to all areas of advertising and will take courses that contribute to strategic planning, research, creative, design, and media planning. The highlight of the program is the advertising campaigns class which requires students to produce complete campaigns that utilize the knowledge acquired in all of the classes they have taken in advertising. Students in the class have also produced work for clients and engaged in the process of client meetings, strategic thinking and creativity.

Students interested in “creative” develop those skills through classes taken in the Department of Communication and often choose to supplement their production skills with course work in graphic design. Others have chosen minors in Broadcast Communication with an emphasis in video production and also photography.

A feature of this program is its small size which brings with it intimate class rooms and extensive interaction with faculty.

Our location in Miami allows students to explore internship opportunities with advertising agencies in the area. All of our undergraduates are required to complete an internship as part of their curriculum. This provides them valuable real world experience prior to entering the work place.
