Prof. Connie Hicks McMahon has taught at Barry since 2004, as an Asst. professor and Professional in Residence. For twenty five years, she was a television reporter in Minneapolis, Rhode Island and Miami. During those years, she won two Emmys, as well as awards from the Associated Press, the American Bar Association, and Lincoln University on minority issues and Crime Stoppers. In the course of her career she produced and anchored the news as well as covered riots, hurricanes, death row, public corruption, trials and reported from Cuba and Haiti. She received her BA degree in Sociology and Political Science from Macalester College and is working on her Master’s degree. Her interest is in broadcast news, reporting and writing, and ethics in the media.  She is currently contributing to PBS’s Nightly Business Report - reporting on the planning stages for retirement.
