The Barry University vision statement concludes with the following statement and challenge: “Barry graduates will make responsible decisions for the common good to help shape global communities where peace and justice prevail.” In order to achieve these goals, Communication Studies majors

• Immerse themselves in the various dimensions of the discipline.
• Recognize the complexity and dynamics of human communication.
• Learn the skills and apply the tools necessary to excel within a variety of industries.

Communication Studies majors learn and practice these skills within the culturally diverse environment at Barry and Greater Miami. Further, Communication Studies majors recognize the moral and ethical implications of the communicator’s responsibilities in the construction of our social world.
