Donna Witherspoon, a master’s student in the Educational Leadership Cohort at the Adrian Dominican School of Education at the Orlando Site, was selected as the 21st Century Catholic School Teacher of the Year in the Elementary School Category for 2010 by the Diocese of Orlando. The 21st Century Catholic School Excellence Awards program, which was held on Jan. 20, recognizes the Catholic school administrators and teachers in the Diocese of Orlando who have shown outstanding leadership.
Witherspoon, the Technology Coordinator for Good Shepherd Catholic School, was invited to participate in a video with Reverend John G. Noonan, Bishop of the Diocese of Orlando, finalists, and the winners in the other two categories as part of the Catholic Schools Week Celebration. Witherspoon has been teaching for ten years and has been part of the teaching staff at Good Shepherd Catholic School in Orlando for nine years. She has taught self-contained second, fourth, and fifth grade and is a certified trainer for Instruction Planning and Curriculum Mapping for the Diocese of Orlando.
