Admission Requirements


    REQUIREMENTS FOR FULL ADMISSION

    • Completed Application including applicant's statement of purpose and goals
    • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized college or university with appropriate credits as indicated by transcripts.
    • An undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.00 (B) or higher.
    • If undergraduate cumulative grade point average is less than 3.00 (B), then acceptable and recent score on the Miller Analogies Test or Graduate Record Examination.
    • Two recent professional recommendations for graduate study including a letter from a former professor
    • Current resume

    REQUIREMENTS FOR FULL ADMISSION
    Specialization in School Counseling

    • Completed Application including applicant's statement of purpose and goals
    • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited or internationally recognized college or university with appropriate credits as indicated by transcripts
    • An undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.00 or higher (on a 4 point scale) AND a current copy of their Florida Professional Educator’s certificate OR passing scores on all parts of the General Knowledge portion of the Florida Teacher Certification Exam OR a combined score of 1000 on the Graduate Record Examination
    • Two recent professional recommendations for graduate study including a letter from a former professor
    • Current resume

    PROVISIONAL ADMISSION

    Applicants who have been provisionally accepted must complete all outstanding admission requirements before they will be permitted to register beyond the 12 credit limit.

    ADMISSION TO CLASS

    Applicants who have not completed the application process may be permitted to take up to 12 graduate credits on the basis of a signed application and proof of a bachelor's degree (copy of diploma or transcript) from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. Any of the courses taken under Temporary Status may be applied to a degree program with advisor's approval only after the student is fully accepted and only if he/she applies to a particular program within the limited number of hours.

    Students under this status will not be allowed to register for courses beyond the credit limitation. Students must declare a major by the end of 6 credit hours. Students may not matriculate into a program beyond that credit limit.

    NON-DEGREE AND GUEST STUDENTS

    The normal limit is 9-12 credits, as above. Exceptions will be considered by the Dean's office.

    Any of the courses listed at the end of the Adrian Dominican School of Education section may be taken for recertification.
