Council for Accreditation of Counseling & Related  Educational Programs (CACREP)

The PhD in Counseling program at Barry University is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP). The CACREP accreditation is the premiere national accreditation for Counseling programs that signifies that the accredited program meets the highest training standards of the counseling profession. Barry University's PhD in Counseling program was the first doctoral program to be CACREP-accredited in South Florida.

Mission

Barry University offers a PhD in Counseling program that inspires your vision and passion while providing you with the skills necessary to be a leader in the field of counseling. Barry's counseling faculty are committed to teaching our students to excel as practitioners, educators, and researchers. The Counseling Doctoral program provides graduates with the expert knowledge that they need for counseling theory and practice.

As a graduate of the PhD in Counseling program, you will possess a high level of competency in providing professional services and have the skills necessary to evaluate research relevant to the profession. In addition to professional services and well-executed research, you will evaluate your own clinical and programmatic interventions.

Specialization

The PhD in Counseling program is designed for students who hold a master's or higher degree in counseling or a related field. Our program provides a Specialization in Marital, Couple, and Family Counseling/Therapy
