Karen Shatz is an Assistant Professor in the Counseling Program of the Adrian Dominican School of Education at Barry University. Dr. Shatz holds a B.A. in psychology from Concordia University, a B.S.W. and a M.S.W. in social work from McGill University, and a Ph.D. in family therapy from Nova University. She is an AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy) Approved Supervisor. Her professional interests include postmodern theory, social constructionism, solution-focused therapy, narrative practices, reflecting teams, qualitative research, and clinical supervision. She has presented numerous professional workshops at state, national, and international conferences. Dr. Shatz’s research interests include phenomenological experiences of loss, immigration issues in counseling, and postmodern supervision.
