International Coastal Clean-Up Day

International Coastal Clean-Up Day

Registration for International Coastal Cleanup Day 2018 is now open!

On Saturday, September 15, Barry students, faculty, and staff will participate in International Coastal Cleanup Day, an annual event hosted by the Ocean Conservancy with support from volunteercleanup.org.  International Coastal Cleanup is the world’s largest volunteer effort to remove marine debris from the oceans.

As part of International Coastal Cleanup Day, participants will collect trash and debris at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park.  The park was historically a “Colored Only” beach during the Jim Crow era in Miami-Dade County.  Participants will promote costal conservation while also learning about civil rights history through service.
