MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry men's tennis player Kevin Sielmann was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete for the 2011-12 season.

ITA Scholar-Athletes awards are given to collegiate tennis players who achieve a grade point average above 3.5 and have been enrolled in the school for at least two semesters.

Sielmann, a native of Barcelona, Spain, posted a 3.53 GPA in business.

He went 10-6 in singles play in his freshman season. That included a 3-1 record at No. 3 singles. Sielmann was 4-0 in doubles play.
