Miami Shores celebrates 80 years

The Barry university community is invited to take part in celebrating the 80th birthday of Miami Shores. The Shores is hosting a four-day celebration beginning on Friday, Oct. 12.

Events include:

Friday, Oct. 12 – 7 p.m.
Presentation – “What was Miami Shores and America like in 1932?”
Presented by: Barry's Jesus Mendez, PhD, associate professor of history
                          Prof. Seth Bramson, adjunct instructor of history
Location: McArthur Chapel at Miami Shores Presbyterian Church (601 NE 96th St.)
Cost: $5 per person

Saturday, Oct. 13 – 4 – 8 p.m.
80th Birthday Street Fair
Join the Shores community for food trucks, musical performances, art, and a Barry University Athletic Village.
Location: NE 2nd Ave. between 94th and 99th St.

Saturday, Oct. 13 – 7 p.m.
Movie – “Blue Skies”
See the first movie ever shown at the Shores Theater in 1949.
Location: O Cinema at Miami Theater Center (9806 NE 2nd Ave.)
Cost: $10 per ticket

Sunday, Oct 14 – 11 a.m.
Happy 80th Birthday Brunch
Location: Miami Shores Country Club
Cost: $19.32 per person – coupons available at the Street Fair
