Barry University MAPS volunteer at local breast health symposium

Members of the Barry University Minority Association of Pre-Health Students (MAPS) spent Saturday, Sept. 22 volunteering at the 17thAnnual Breast Health Symposium in Opa-Locka, Fla. While there, they helped to educate members of this under-served community about the importance of early detection and cancer screening. This event was sponsored by The Beautiful Gate Cancer Support & Resource Center and the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation and had participants from Miami-Dade College Medical Campus, FIU College of Medicine, the YWCA, and more.

MAPS is a multicultural student organization with members from undergraduate (biology, chemistry, nursing) and graduate (BMS) programs at Barry. For more information about this organization, e-mail: BarryMAPS@gmail.com and/or visit: BarryMAPS.blogspot.com
