MIAMI SHORES, Fla.—The Barry women’s soccer team will be honoring it’s senior class on Saturday as the Buccaneers host the Eckerd College Tritons.

Amber Bender is a two-year letter winner from Pima College in Arizona. She has started 19 games over the last two seasons, helping the Bucs post at 1.51 goals against average and nine shutouts. She has chipped in two assists for her career, including one on the game-winner against Lynn on Wednesday. A terrific student, she made the Athletic Director’s List in the fall of 2011 and the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll.

Emily Brunnschweiler has been with the team for four years, making 15 starts between the pipes. She has posted five wins and two shutouts with a 1.61 goals against average. She posted 4-0 shutouts over Florida Memorial as a freshman and Eckerd as a sophomore. A five time member of the Dean’s List and three-time member of the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, she is one of the top students on the team.

Another four-year letter winner for the Bucs, Sofia Jakobsson has started 51 of her 62 career games, chipping in four assists from her central midfield position.  She has been on Barry’s President’s List three times, Dean’s List twice and the Athletic Director’s List once, earning SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll all three years.

Katie Lamendola has been a fixture for the Bucs, starting every game over the last three seasons. For her four-year career, she has made 61 starts in 65 games and ranks in the top-10 in minutes played. She has contributed nine career assists and notched her first career goal, the game-winner, against St. Thomas in overtime earlier this year. She has made the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice and Barry’s Athletic Director’s list three times.

Though Melissa Madrid had this year cut short, she still ranks as one of the most prolific scorers in school history. In 51 career games, she has 37 goals and 13 assists for 87 points. She ranks fourth in career goals per game and ninth in points per game. She has had three career hat-tricks, including two a freshman in 2009. She earned All-Sunshine State Conference each of her first three years, including a First-Team pick last season when she led the league in goals scored. A two-time member of the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, she has been on the Dean’s List three times, President’s List and Athletic Director’s List once each.

Melissa Toledo spent parts of three seasons with the Bucs, playing in 12 games with nine starts in goal. She posted four wins and two shutouts with a 1.65 goals against average. Her 14 saves against Florida Tech last year are the third-most ever for a Buccaneer. A six-time member of the Dean’s List, she has made the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll twice.

Sarah Wolfer has been with the Bucs for five years, playing in 66 games with 38 starts. The team’s leading scorer as a freshman, she has gone on to tally 12 career goals with five assists. She knocked in three game-winners during her excellent rookie campaign. A three-time member of the SSC Commissioner’s Honor Roll, she has been on the Dean’s List four times, President’s List and Athletic Director’s List once each. She graduated magna cum laude in social work with a minor in Spanish and is currently working on her master’s in social work.
