Baseball Takes a Swing at No. 20 Hurricanes Wednesday

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. -- Barry University's baseball team will play at the University of Miami at 6 p.m. Wednesday in a game to be broadcast on the Buccaneer Broadcast Network, powered by Stretch Internet. Will Sanchez and Allan Cepeda will handle the call from Mark Light Stadium in Coral Gables.

The last time the Buccaneers (9-6) and Hurricanes (7-0) met was April 13, 2011 in Coral Gables when Miami won, 10-5. Barry is seeking its first win over the Hurricanes, who are ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division I. 

Miami will host St. Thomas Tuesday night before meeting the Bucs Wednesday.

Barry junior second baseman Adrian English is hitting .456 with 11 doubles, a home run, 19 RBI and a .702 slugging percentage. Senior catcher Luis Arrizurieta is batting .367 with seven doubles, a homer and 11 RBI.

Bucs freshman pitcher Billy Atkins is 1-1 with a 2.84 earned run average and 14 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched. Senior Kevin Youst is 1-2 with a 3.96 ERA, and junior Calvin Rayburn is 3-1 with one save.

Miami's Brad Fieger is batting .480. Alex Hernandez is hitting .400, and David Thompson has a .348 average with a home run, 13 RBI and a .739 slugging percentage. Six of Thompson's eight hits are doubles.

Barry will return home to begin a three-game series with Saint Leo at 6 p.m. Friday.
