Women's Tennis Continues to Roll

VALDOSTA, Ga. -- Barry University women's tennis team swept Valdosta State, 5-0, Saturday to remain unbeaten.

The Buccaneers (9-0) swept the doubles matches, and picked up singles wins from Emma Onila at No. 3 and Akemi Maehama at No. 6, both by identical 6-0, 6-1 scores.

Onila, who paired with Elisabeth Abanda at the No. 1 flight to outlast Michelle Fischer and Alina Nagel, 8-6, picked up her dominating singles win over Jennifer Rink. Maehama breezed by Jessica Tuggle.

Kimmy Twelker and Linda Fritschken swept Laura Ubeda and Julianna Boehm, 8-0, at No. 2 pairs. Isabela Miro and Karina Goia survived an 8-5 victory over Tuggle and Rink at the No. 3 flight.

Barry concludes its Valdosta trip with a 10 a.m. Sunday match against Clayton State.
