WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Three Barry University men's golfers were named to the All-Sunshine State Conference Team Wednesday.

Adam Svensson was named SSC Freshman of the Year, and was selected as a member of the First Team. Svensson leads the No. 2 nationally-ranked Buccaneers in scoring average at 70.94. He matched the school record with a low round of 65 this spring. Svensson has two runner-up finishes, doing so on back-to-back Georgia tournaments. He finished tied for third at the Buccaneer Invitational, and was fourth at the Matlock Collegiate Classic.

Senior Marcus Segerstrom and junior Scott Smyers were named to the Second Team. Segerstrom, an honorable mention All-American last year, has a 72.83 stroke average, and won the Flagler College Jennison Memorial Tournament in the fall when he shot a first-round 66. Segerstrom leads the team with 100 birdies.

Smyers is having his best season as a Buccaneer. He is second on the team in scoring average at 72.53, and is tied for the team lead in eagles with four. Smyers was the runner-up at the Buccaneer Invitational. He finished fourth at the Matlock in his hometown of Lakeland, Fla., and placed fifth at the SSC Championships.

Barry will compete in the South/Southeast Super Regional in Howey in the Hills at Mission Inn Resort May 6-8.
