NORMAN, Okla. -- Barry University's Adam Svensson was honored with the Phil Mickelson Award, given to the most outstanding freshman in NCAA Division II men's golf.

Svensson (Surrey Vancouver, British Columbia) had seven top-10 finishes in his eight tournament appearances, including runner-ups at the Southeastern Collegiate and Bobcat Invitational. He was named the Sunshine State Conference Freshman of the Year and a First-Team All-SSC.

Svensson joined junior Scott Smyers (Lakeland, Fla.) as Ping First-Team All-Americans. Smyers had six top-10 finishes, including a runner-up at the Buccaneer Invitational.

Junior Jared Dalga (Grand Rapids, Mich.) also earned All-American honors after finishing seventh in the stroke play portion of the NCAA Championships in Hershey, Pa.
