ORLANDO -- Barry University men's golf team finished tied for eighth at the McDonough Cup, hosted by Rollins College.

The Buccaneers, ranked No. 1 in the nation, shot 296 in Tuesday's final round of the 54-hole event on the par-72, 7,152-yard Eagle Creek Golf Club to finish with a three-round total of 876. They tied with Lynn and Rollins. Armstrong Atlantic won the tournament with an 857, separating itself from the pack by four strokes over Nova Southeastern and Lander. Florida Tech was fourth at 865, and Mount Olive fifth at 871. Barry was a stroke behind Flagler's 875, and two strokes behind Columbus State, which finished sixth in the 16-team event.

Lander's Robert Prior won the event, shooting 68-70-69 -- 207. His 9-under finish was four strokes better than Carson Newman's Jonathan Kim-Moss and Armstrong's Travis Williamson.

Barry's Adam Svensson tied for 14th at even par. He shot 73 in the final round. Mario Beltran tied for 29th at 3-over 219, following a final round 4-over 76. Jared Dalga was lumped in a seven-way tie for 35th, a stroke behind Beltran's six-way cluster for 29th.

Svensson was 1-under on par-4 scoring holes, while Dalga was 4-under on par-5 scoring.

Buccaneers junior Berry Jole had the low round of the day for Barry when he shot a 1-under 71 Tuesday to finish at 221. Nico Cavero shot 79, finding himself into a tie for 75th at 233.

Svensson and Jole both had 38 pars, which was tied for ninth best in the 84-player field.

The Buccaneers complete the fall season after winning two events and taking home the runner-up trophy in another. They will open the spring schedule Feb. 10-11 at the Matlock Collegiate Classic in Lakeland, Fla., on Lone Palm Country Club, which is senior Scott Smyers' home course.
