BOCA RATON, Fla. – Barry University women’s basketball team beat host Lynn, 85-79, Wednesday night. The win was the Buccaneers’ fourth in the past five, bumping their record to 15-10, 7-8 in the Sunshine State Conference.

Lynn fell to 11-14, 4-11 in the SSC.

Colette Eule scored 23 points and had six rebounds, and Tyler Hardy finished with 22 points and five rebounds for the Bucs. Hardy scored 20 points in the second half. It was her third straight game with 20 or more points. It was the fifth time this year Eule has reached 20 or more points.

Eule hit a field goal roughly six minutes into the second half to give Barry a 12-point lead. Eule buried a triple in the corner, and Hardy converted a three-point play with 10:41 to play to give the Bucs a 59-41 lead.

But the Fighting Knights erased the double-digit deficit with a 13-4 run to draw within nine. Lynn’s Zachara Bailey hit a three with 3:35 to go as the Knights cut it to 71-66. Lynn’s Sharneka McCatty sank one of two free throws with 25 seconds left to pull the Fighting Knights within five, but Eule hit two free throws after McCatty’s second miss to hold off the Fighting Knights.

Hardy was 10 of 11 from the line as the Buccaneers sank 24 of 30 free throws.

The Buccaneers hit 14 field goals in both halves, finishing 28 of 54 from the field for just under 52 percent. Lynn was 24 of 67 for 35.8 percent.

Bailey scored 23, and McCatty 17 for the Fighting Knights, who sank 22 of 23 free throws. Ines Kerin had 12 points and seven assists, and Kaylia Richardson 15 points, five rebounds and two blocks for the Buccaneers.

Barry led 33-26 at halftime. Eule hit a turnaround jumper to beat the intermission buzzer to send the Buccaneers into the break up seven. The Bucs led by as many as 10 in the first half on Kaylia Richardson’s basket with 6:39 to go.

The Bucs shot 46.7 percent in the first half, going 14 of 30. Lynn hit 29.4 percent of its shots, going 10 of 34. Eule scored 10 points in the first half, and Alesha Jenkins had eight.
