WINTER PARK, Fla. -- Barry sophomore Karina Goia (Arad, Romania) has been recognized as the Sunshine State Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week presented by VALIC.

It was her second SSC Player of the Week honor this season.

Goia, who ranks No. 19 in singles and No. 13 in doubles with Elisabeth Abanda, recorded three more singles and doubles victories out West against No. 17 UC-San Diego, No. 14 Fresno Pacific and No. 16 Azusa Pacific. Goia defeated her singles opponents Paula Chou of UC-San Diego, 6-2, 6-0, and Natalie Johnson of Azusa Pacific, 6-1, 6-2, in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Goia came back to upset No. 14 Petra Jurova of Fresno Pacific, 1-6, 6-0,10-6, to remain unbeaten in singles action. Goia and Abanda went 3-0 in doubles action during the week.

It was Goia's third win over a ranked opponent this season.
