Women's Tennis: Kigel Named ITA South Region Coach of Year

SKILLMAN, N.J. – Barry University women’s tennis coach Avi Kigel was named the Intercollegiate Tennis Association South Region Coach of the Year.

It is the second straight year Kigel has received the honor.

In his sixth season with the Buccaneers, Kigel has coached the team to a 24-1 record and No. 1 national ranking. Barry will be making its fifth straight trip to the NCAA Division II Championships, where it play No. 42 Indiana (Pa.) in the Round of 16 Wednesday at Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Florida.

The Bucs won the NCAA South Region 1, Sunshine State Conference Tournament and regular season titles. It was their fifth straight SSC Tournament championship, and the first league regular season title. This was the first year the conference crowned a regular season champ.
