HPLS leadership among ICSSPE representatives at Olympic Committee of Portugal

In January, two members of the School of Human Performance and Leadership Science’s (HPLS) leadership team, Dean Darlene Kulka, PhD, and Associate Dean Carl Cramer, PhD, were among representatives of the International Council of Sport Science and Physical Education (ICSSPE) at a working meeting hosted by the Olympic Committee of Portugal (COP) in Lisbon.

The ICSSPE representatives were in Lisbon to discuss financing and sports organizations in Portugal, the role of the COP in planning and programming of the Olympic mission, and initiatives to promote Olympic values and sport development.

Both Kluka and Cramer are incredibly active with ICSSPE. Kluka is a member of the ICSSPE Executive Board while Cramer is a member of the organization’s editorial board. Both have been on their respective boards for the past two years.

ICSSPE is the world’s largest network of organizations and institutions concerned with sport, sport science and physical education, accounting for millions of people. Among others, the Council belongs to the associated bodies of UNESCO and co-operates with the sport movement. By fostering sport, exercise, education and health, ICSSPE contributes to the development of human society. For more information on ICSSPE, visit their website at: http://www.icsspe.org/.
