Barry Phi Alpha Delta students attend Environmental and Earth Law Summit

Five student members of Barry University’s Phi Alpha Delta Pre-Law Chapter, sponsored by the Department of History and Political Science, attended an all-day seminar on Thursday, April 9, 2015, to discuss the importance establishing laws to protect the Earth. The summit, titled “Climate Disruption: Choosing Our Environmental Destiny, took place in Orlando, Fla., and was part of Barry University School of Law’s 2015 Environmental and Earth Law Summit. 

Global climate disruption has been called the most important issue of the time. The 2015 Environmental and Earth Law Summit explored international, national, and local impacts of climate disruption and ways to fight the issue.

Noted environmentalist lawyer and activist Robert F Kennedy, Jr, served as the keynote speaker and spoke about on “Our Environmental Destiny” at the conclusion of the daylong event. Other panelists included national, state and local experts in key environmental fields.

Barry’s Phi Alpha Delta students were given a tour of the law school and attended a criminal law class conducted by Professor Leonard Birdsong, noted faculty member at the law school and former legal commentator at CNN.
