Barry University students in School of Podiatric Medicine and College of Nursing and Health Sciences work together at medical workshop

Barry University School of Podiatric Medicine’s Diabetes Club joined forces with the College of Nursing and Health Sciences to host the first inter-professional workshop. Sponsored by the National Student Nurses’ Association’s board at Barry, students from both medical fields gained insights from one another and shared techniques to performing injections.

Students from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences gave a series of presentations on the art of giving injections to an audience of podiatric medicine and nursing students. They were then able to put into practice their injection skills using state of the art models in the Nursing teaching labs.

Student doctors Spenser Soldano and Donald Cohen of the School of Podiatric Medicine’s Diabetes Club explained that effective practice of medicine in the 21st century will require a team-based approach to patient care. They hope this workshop will be the start of a strong, collaborative relationship between health care professionals at Barry University and beyond.
