School of Podiatric Medicine’s class of 2017 achieves 100 percent residency placement

Barry University’s School of Podiatric Medicine’s graduating class of 2017 joined their peers across the nation in March during the annual matching process to secure residency placements — the customary post-graduate training and education for doctors in the U.S.

Initial results were released March 22, and the school is proud to announce that 100 percent of the graduating class received a residency placement. The 2017 national average for placements is 92.66 percent. The School of Podiatric Medicine is also proud to acknowledge that it is the only institution among the nine U.S. schools of podiatric medicine to achieve a 100 percent placement for its graduating class.

In addition to placing all 2017 graduates, two graduates from the class of 2016 who had not previously found residencies were also matched to a program.

The 100 percent placement completes a trifecta for the school. Earlier this spring, it was announced that seniors achieved a 100 percent pass rate on the Part II written examination and 100 percent on the Clinical Board exam.  

“This is strong testimony to the quality of the students we have recruited, their hard work during their years here, the outstanding didactic and clinical education provided by our faculty, and the excellent support provided by our staff at Barry University,” said Dr. Albert Armstrong, dean of the School of Podiatric Medicine.
