Fifth Annual Community Engagement Symposium: Call for Proposals

Proposal Submission Deadline: Friday, January 26

The Center for Community Service Initiatives (CCSI) and the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Implementation Committee invite students, faculty, staff, and community partners to submit proposals for concurrent-session presentations at Barry University’s Fifth Annual Community Engagement Symposium.

Proposals should address the theme of social responsibility through experiential learning. Successful proposals will specify the social issues addressed; the strategies, programs/projects, and related activities undertaken; and the social responsibility outcomes achieved.

Forms of Experiential Learning: Service-learning, community-based research, study abroad, internships, practicum assignments (fieldwork, student teaching and clinical placements), and capstones.

Elements of Social Responsibility: (a) Becoming aware of the importance of contributing to the greater good; (b) gaining civic knowledge and skills; and (c) taking action with others to address issues affecting local, national, and/or global communities.

Presentation Formats: Individual or team presentation, panel discussion, roundtable, reflection activity, etc. (Note: A separate call for poster presentation proposals has been issued.)

Length of Session: 60 minutes

Proposal Form:  The form is available in CEMS (Community Engagement Management System).

Proposal Review: The Community Engagement Symposium Committee will review all proposals.
