Barry University Professor, Dr. Alonso-Gallo, to present at Miami Book Fair

Barry University is proud to share that our Professor of English, Dr. Laura Alonso-Gallo, will present Identidad y postnacionalismo: en la cultura cubana (Identity and Post-nationalism in Cuban Culture) at the 2019 Miami Book Fair International. She co-edited the book with Dr. B. Rodríguez-Mourelo. It explores post-national identity, society, and culture in Cuban and Cuban American literature.

Hailing from Madrid, Spain, Dr. Alonso-Gallo was Professor of American Literature at the University of Huelva, Spain, where she served as Chair of the English Department and Director of International Relations. She taught at Duke University in North Carolina, University of Seville in Spain, and for the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill program also in Seville, Spain. Dr. Alonso-Gallo’s work focuses on the narrative of Latinx people and the authors of the Caribbean. She has also edited collections like Guayaba sweet: Literatura Cubana en Estados Unidos and Voces de América/American Voices: Entrevistas a escritores americanos, served on the Board of Directors of the Spain-Florida 500 Years Foundation, and is involved in several civic and cultural organizations in South Florida.
