Class of 2019: Baccalaureate Mass and Rose and Candle Ceremony, Dec. 13

The university community is invited to celebrate our graduating students in time-honored Barry traditions the day before Commencement. All graduates are encouraged to attend, as well as guests, faculty, and staff who wish to show their support.

Baccalaureate Mass

Friday, December 13 | 4:00 pm
Cor Jesu Chapel

This Mass honors the graduating class in a spirit of thanksgiving for God’s blessings upon our students. All are welcome. Graduates should wear their academic robes (no hoods or caps).

Rose and Candle Ceremony

Friday, December 13 | 5:30 pm
Cor Jesu Chapel
(Participants line up in Thompson Lobby at 5:00 pm)

The Rose and Candle Ceremony symbolizes the bonds of friendship and the sending forth of graduates. Graduates exchange a candle, the symbol of wisdom and knowledge, with a Barry underclassman of their choice. In return, graduates receive a rose as a symbol of love and friendship. Graduates should wear academic robes (no hoods or caps), while those serving as roses should wear business attire. All are welcome. A reception will immediately follow in the Fine Arts Quad.
