Shining a Light on Injustice at Spoken Word Show "Illuminate."

Barry’s Fine Arts Department is placing the spotlight on injustice, inequality, and education with its upcoming spring show, “Illuminate.” The entire community is welcome to attend spoken word performances that explore the things that empower, fuel, and ignite positive change. Student artists will offer an immersive experience in an intimate stage setting. Each work will include music, movement, humor and audience participation. Performances will include poems by popular poets like Taylor Mali and Dominique Christina  Denice Froham, as well as Barry students Shanieya Harris and Latiana Cater. Their words will highlight the power of education to provide the voiceless with the tools to be heard.

Don’t miss out on this artistic exploration of how, as a community and as individuals, we can enact real change.
