Professor Connie Hicks has taught at Barry since 2004, as an Assistant Professor and Professional in Residence. Professor Connie Hicks has had a notable career in television news. As a television reporter in Minneapolis, Rhode Island, and Miami, she won two Emmys, as well as awards from the Associated Press, the American Bar Association, and Lincoln University. During her professional career she produced and anchored the news, and covered riots, hurricanes, death row cases, public corruption trials, and reported from Cuba and Haiti. She received her BA degree in Sociology and Political Science from Macalester College. Her interest is in broadcast news, reporting and writing, and ethics in the media.
