Welcome to the Department of Communication website and thank you for your interest in our programs.  Because it is closely linked to the technological, social, and cultural changes that are rapidly changing our world, communication is a popular and versatile major at Barry University that offers students various ways to pursue their interests and career goals.

We offer both undergraduate and graduate programs of study that reflect the variety of the communication discipline.  At the undergraduate level, some of the department’s special strengths include the ability to major in advertising, communication studies, public relations, or broadcast communication.  Because we offer several majors, students can integrate their studies in ways that most suit their interests by choosing readily available electives or combining their major with several minor programs of study.  We also offer a thriving internship program that has placed students throughout the Miami and adjoining areas so that they gain real-world experience in an international metropolitan environment.

If you want to pursue graduate studies in communication, the department also offers multiple programs in the areas of public relations, corporate communication, and broadcasting.  Students interested in the traditional Master of Arts degree have two options; the Master of Arts in Broadcast Communication or the Master of Arts in Public Relations and Corporate Communication.  Sometimes, though, working professionals are interested in more specialized programs designed to increase or update their skills.  In that case, we also offer more specialized academic certificate programs in both areas.  Our graduate programs have been designed to accommodate the needs of traditional students as well as busy working professionals.
