November, 2008: SMDI students earn “Honorable Mention” in NAUI Worldwide “Just Dive” Photo contest and win four tickets to dive facilities at Disney World Orlando.

October, 2008: SMDI Students plan “Haunted Paddle” night Halloween kayaking experience for community at Oleta State River State Park in Sunny Isles, Florida.

August, 2008: SMDI alumnus Brett Scaglione named instructor for Barry University Sport Management-Diving Faculty

May, 2008: SMDI Majors, Minors help preserve Bonaire National Marine Sanctuary through recovery of portions of damaged dock and twenty tires from top photo dive sight in the world.

December 2007: SMDI Majors and Minors team up with International Association of Handicapped Divers to introduce Wounded Iraq War Veterans to SCUBA Diving.

May 2007: Sharon Kegeles named official Tourism Ambassador for the island country of Bonaire, Netherlands Antilles.
