Spiritual Direction offered to Grad Theology Students

As part of your formation process, Barry University recommends you engage in spiritual direction. To that end we would like to offer you information on two qualified, local spiritual directors:

Veneta Lorriane, MA, D.Min. Candidate: 561-496-4130

Ms. Veneta Lorraine has served in the ministry of spiritual direction since 1991. She currently offers a training program for spiritual directors as well as individual spiritual direction. Veneta has a Master of Arts in Pastoral Theology from Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge, MA, and did her undergraduate work at Providence College, another Dominican school in RI.
She trained and subsequently worked for 11 years at Our Lady of Peace Spiritual Life Center in Narragansett, RI. Her ministry there included individual spiritual direction; teaching an adult Christian formation program--Spirituality for Christian Leadership; training and supervising spiritual directors; and organizing directed retreats. She also worked at the Inter-Church Council of Greater New Bedford, MA, the umbrella organization for Protestant Churches in the area, where she was engaged in facilitating clergy and staff support groups, as well as offering spiritual direction. Ms. Lorraine also spent one year in Belize, Central America, at the Our Lady of Guadalupe Spiritual Life Center. She is currently enrolled in Barry University's Doctor of Minisatry program.

Sue Seltenright DeFerrari, MA, MSW, Director of Morningstar Renewal Center:  305-238-4367 or www.MorningstarRenewal.org. Please click here to view all September - October events.

*“Sue has been working to shape the vision and ministry of MorningStar (Renewal and Retreat Center) through its program offerings since its inception in 2004. Sue’s own commitment to faith in Christ Jesus and her giftedness in preaching and teaching the faith fuel her vision for ministry: to create new opportunities for individuals, families, and communities to experience and make visible the reign of God in our midst. She brings to the ministry of MorningStar a rich background in community organizing, nonprofit administration, and pastoral theology, with 15 years of pastoral experience, serving as both a missionary internationally and a professional lay minister in numerous dioceses throughout the United States. Sue is active in her parish community of St. Louis Catholic as well as other projects in her local community. Her main joy is in sharing an active life with her husband and best friend, Michael, and their three young children.” *Quoted from Morningstar website staff page, accessed 3/31/09.
