Alberto Gamarra, Ph.D.

Alberto Gamarra joined the School Psychology Program of the Counseling Department in the Adrian Dominican School of Education as Assistant Professor in 2008. Before coming to Barry University, Dr. Gamarra was a School Psychology adjunct professor for Nova Southeastern University and an hourly school psychologist for Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Dr. Gamarra holds a Ph. D. in School Psychology from the University of Arizona in Tucson, a Master's degree in Sport Psychology from the University of Florida, and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Florida. He is a Licensed School Psychologist in the State of Florida, and he is Nationally Certified by the National Association of School Psychologists. He sits on the board for the Florida Association of School Psychologists (FASP) and is Executive Director of the FASP's Committee of Continuous Existence. His professional interests include cultural and linguistic diversity, comorbid disorders, personality assessment, and PEAK performance profiling and performance enhancement. Dr. Gamarra is currently working to bring a “Best Practice in Multicultural Assessment” document to the state of Florida through the FASP's Cultural and Linguistic Diversity Committee.
