After more than three decades working in higher education in Canada, Terry Piper returned to the US as Dean of ADSOE in August, 2006. After earning her BA and MA in English from the University of New Hampshire and teaching high school in the same state, Dr. Piper moved to Canada to pursue her doctorate in linguistics. She held positions in several Canadian universities including the University of British Columbia, Saint Mary's University, Memorial University, and York University. She has been a Dean of three schools of education and served as Vice-President Academic and, later, President and CEO of the BC Open University.
Her academic area is first and second language learning. Dr. Piper has written ten books including four editions of Language and Learning: The Home and School Years (Prentice-Hall, 2006) and a trilogy of fiction. The third book of the Ozark series, entitled Ozark Woman, is due out in late 2009. When she has some spare time, she will happily report on what she does with it. |
