Majors, Minors, and Endorsements

Majors/Specializations

During the first year in the Bachelor of Science in Education program, students will choose from one of three education specializations:

• Infancy Through Early Childhood Education (Birth-3rd Grade)
• Early and Middle Childhood Education (K-6th Grade)
• Special Education (K-12th Grade)

Minors

Students have the option of completing one of the following minors prior to graduating with their bachelor’s degree in education: General Science, Literature, Math, or Social Science. Upon completion of one of these minors, students are eligible for Florida certification in grades 5-9.

Endorsements

All students who complete the Bachelor of Science in Education program receive:

• Endorsement in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). This is a State of Florida Endorsement.
• Endorsement in (teaching) Reading. This is a State of Florida Endorsement.

The Reading and ESOL endorsements are highly regarded in the Florida Education System. These endorsements also give students the necessary foundation to pursue teaching in other states and overseas.
